2024 is here and the chilly weather is coming! We hope you had a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. The holidays are over, and people are winding down and working on their New Year resolutions. For that reason, we kept our list short and sweet as you spend more time bundled up and focusing on goals!
Free Week was started in 2003 in the Red River Cultural District as a way to keep local venues up and running during the slow time in the winter. It started with one venue and has now grown to several venues across Austin with thousands of attendees. This year there will be 10+ venues and dozens of free live music performances! Visit the Red River Cultural District website for the lineup and more info.
The MLK Festival kicks off at 9 am with a short program at the MLK statue at UT Austin, then a march. The festival follows at 11:15 am and will last until around 3:30 pm. Come enjoy multiple vendors of all sorts and local musical artists! This year they are joining with Central Texas Food Bank to gather donations. If you plan to march and attend, be sure to bring some canned goods or non-perishable food items. For more information on attending visit their website.
Come out to downtown Austin to participate in this downhill half marathon course that ends at the State Capitol! A lively festival with live music will greet you at the end! If you’ve run half marathons this is a great opportunity to PR as it’s mostly a downhill course and known for producing some of the fastest PRs! Visit their website to register or to find out more!
