What to do in Austin in April

April is here! Enjoy our last month of potential cooler temperatures before the summer begins. This month is jam-packed with events and festivals. Whether you’re hanging solo or with your family, you will have something to do every weekend. Keep reading to see what to do in Austin in April!

Capitol 10k – April 7th

Established in 1978, this 10k run is the largest in Texas, and the sixth largest in the country! Go to cap10k.com to sign up.

Great American Eclipse – April 8th

Austin and the surrounding hill country are in the direct path of the total solar eclipse. This will be the last total solar eclipse until 2044! The city of Austin expects a flood of tourists this day and over the weekend. Be sure to find your viewing spot ahead of time and get there early. Learn more here.

ABC Kite Fest – April 14th

This is the nation’s oldest kite festival that happens every year and fills the skies with hundreds of kites! Find out more here.

Eeyore’s Annual Birthday Party – April 27th

Eeyore’s Birthday Party is a fundraiser that benefits non-profit groups in Austin. This year is the 59th annual and will be held at Pease Park. There will be games, crafts, a kid’s costume party, and more. Visit their website for more information.

UTOPIAFest Down in the Oaks – April 5th – 9th

UTOPIAFest started from a bunch of music lovers hanging out on a ranch. Now, it’s a full blow festival featuring over 35 bands. This year’s festival will be taking place during the eclipse! This event offers free tent camping, hiking, workshops, yoga, and more. Get your pass here!

CMT Music Awards – April 7th

Austin Reggae Fest – April 19th – 21st

Austin Reggae Fest is a fundraiser for the Capital Area Food Bank. This fest features 3 days of reggae and more than 50 vendors selling food, art, and crafts! Go to their website, to get tickets!

Austin Blue’s Festival – April 27th – 28th

Austin Blue’s Festival is hosted by Antone’s Nightclub and Waterloo Greenway! This is the 2nd annual festival. Listen to live blues, try yummy eats, and browse a curated collection of vinyl at Big Henry’s pop-up. Buy tickets here.

Fusebox Festival – April 7th – 14th

Fusebox is a hybrid arts festival that takes place over 7 days at various venues across Austin. It features, theatre, dance, film, music, literature, visual, and culinary arts. Find out more at their website!

Austin Fashion Week – April 18th – 20th

Moontower Comedy Festival – April 10th – 21st

Field Guide Festival – April 20th
