March is here in Austin! The temperature is rising and events are in full swing. We’ve curated a list of what to check out this month. There’s more than SXSW (and its free events!), you won’t want to miss.
Free 21+ event March 16 between 1-8pm. Featuring music from Death Valley Girls, Stolen Nova, Sorry Mom, Avalanche Party, and more! Get your free ticket here.
KUTX 98.9 will host live morning broadcasts from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 15, 16, and 17 as well as from 8 a.m. to noon on March 18. Admission is $10 with the proceeds going to Central Texas Food Bank. Performers across the four days include Baby Rose, The Heavy Heavy, Geto Gala, Obongjayar, Girl Ultra, Pearl & the Oysters, and Thee Sacred Souls. A long list of artists, including Balming Tiger, Tohji and 9m88, are taking over Cheer Up Charlie’s, 900 Red River St., starting at noon March 15. RSVP.
Experience a sensory room and ASMR spa starting at noon March 13-15 at Mala Vida, 708 East Sixth St. Evening performances start at 7 p.m. and include artists such as PinkPantheress and Tiago PZK. The house, which you must be 21 years or older to enter, is open during the day to everyone, including non-SXSW attendees, but folks with festival credentials will get an expedited entry. The nighttime performances are mostly reserved for festival attendees, but you can try your luck in a standby line. Find out more here.
If you like pickleball, make sure to check out Bouldin Acres on 2027 South Lamar Blvd. They are hosting a pickleball social from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 11. The event will have snacks and drinks and is open to all player levels. The social is free to attend but you have to register.
Head to Hotel Vegas, 1500 East Sixth St., at 11 a.m. March 18 for brunch, drinks and live music. The event is free to attend, but you must be 21 years or older. The brunch runs to 1 p.m. More information can be found here.
Geraldine’s Restaurant, located inside Hotel Van Zandt on 605 Davis St., will offer a special comedy night with host Chris Hills from 8-11 p.m. March 13.
YETI Music Showcase
This year’s installment of the annual showcase will take place at 220 S Congress Ave. on March 15 at noon. The event will feature not only live music but drinks, food pop-ups and live painting. More info can be found here.
Come out at 10:00am at MAARIBU S First location, a home goods shop and cafe at 1413 S 1st st. Cynthia Aguillón Bernard specializes in family and children’s yoga, including meditation, mindfulness, and sound healing. Her classes combine storytelling and music to create a playful environment where everyone feels welcome. Proceeds will benefit Safe Austin. Children are $5 and Adults are $20. A new interactive museum is coming to Austin! The public opening is March 11 and will feature over 70 exhibits including mind-altering illusions, 3-d holograms, and mesmerizing immersive rooms. Find out more here.
